Kōgetsu-dō

The banana cake is often singled out in reviews as a first thing to try at Kōgetsu-dō. Diners describe its soft sponge, cream and simple, nostalgic flavour, making it an appealing choice for an unfussy treat. One person who tried it alongside the rare cheesecake said the flavours were the sort you would want to share.

Among the Western-style sweets, the apple pie has left an impression on some diners for its tart apple filling and pastry with a hint of butter. Others have enjoyed the balance of cream and sponge in the Mont Blanc, as well as the presence of chestnut. Chocolate fraise and cheesecake have also featured in other orders. The chocolate fraise is described as a cake combining chocolate sponge, whipped cream and strawberries.

Japanese sweets are part of Kōgetsu-dō’s appeal, too. The dorayaki is noted for its large azuki beans in chunky bean paste and its tiger-striped outer layer. Choose a few cakes, or pair a Western-style sweet with dorayaki—the takeaway selection can suit the mood of the day.

Kōgetsu-dō is takeaway-only, with no dine-in service. It is open from 12:00 to 19:00 and closed on Tuesdays.
